Biography
Josef Filipovský (1851–1899) oversaw construction projects with an eye for solidity and care for the people served by the spaces he helped create. As a general contractor, he balanced practical demands with an awareness of the communities that would inhabit the buildings he delivered.
His contributions supported the growth of Prague’s neighborhoods, and his work is commemorated by those who still benefit from the structures he helped shape, while his resting place at Vinohrady Cemetery honors a life spent building for others.
