Biography

Josef Flögel, born in 1844, served as mayor of Trutnov during a period of industrial growth, overseeing improvements to the town's water supply and encouraging the construction of schools and public baths. He listened closely to factory workers and artisan guilds alike, believing that sound administration could protect both prosperity and human dignity.

He died in 1894, leaving a municipality more cohesive than he had found it, and his grave in the cemetery in Trutnov continues to receive visits from citizens who recall his calm leadership.
