Biography

Josef Gotvald was born in 1886 and lived through a period of significant political and social change in Central Europe. He experienced the final years of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the establishment of the Czechoslovak state.

Gotvald died in 1944 at the age of 58 and was buried in Vinohrady Cemetery. His life spanned one of the most consequential periods in Czech history.
