Biography
Josef Otruba was born in 1886 and lived until 1959, witnessing the dramatic evolution of Czech society across more than seven decades. His long life spanned from the Austro-Hungarian Empire through the establishment of the modern Czech state.
His legacy is preserved at Olšany Cemetery in Prague, where he rests among many other notable figures from Czech history and culture.
