Biography

Joseph A. McArdle carried the concerns of southwestern Pennsylvania to the halls of Congress, working to ensure that the people of Pittsburgh and its surrounding communities had a voice in New Deal-era debates and that local social services remained responsive to need.

He drew strength from family and faith, and he rests in Calvary Catholic Cemetery where friends remember his genial manner and his quiet determination to help others.
