Joseph Barton Elam

Biography

Joseph Barton Elam (1821–1885) represented the people of Louisiana in the U.S. House, serving during a difficult postwar era and speaking for the recovery of his home state.

After leaving Washington he returned to Mansfield, where he continued to assist his neighbors and enjoy quieter days before being laid to rest in Mansfield Cemetery.
