Joseph C. Kingsbury

Biography

Joseph C. Kingsbury was born in 1812 and embraced the Latter-day Saint faith during the early 19th century, traveling westward with other pioneers as they sought a place to worship freely. He helped establish homes and communities in the Salt Lake Valley, lending his steady presence to both chapel gatherings and the practical labor of settlement.

Through decades of service, he raised a family grounded in faith, offering counsel to neighbors and sustaining the civic life of Salt Lake City until his death in 1898. He is remembered as one who quietly upheld the early saints while Salt Lake City grew into the thriving capital that now surrounds the cemetery where he is laid to rest.
