Joseph G. Hutchison answered the call to serve with humility, supporting his fellow citizens during times of national stress and working faithfully to bring stability back to the home front. His loyalty to his country and his patience in the face of hardship earned him the esteem of those around him.

In peace he remained a quiet force for good, offering his efforts to the advancement of his town and the betterment of future generations; he now rests at Ottumwa Cemetery, where the peace he helped secure is remembered.
