Biography

Joseph McCoy, born in 1837, was a familiar figure at Maple Grove, where he worked tirelessly to sustain the farms and families that depended on the fertile valley. He took pride in teaching the next generation about the rhythms of the land and shared stories of how the region had grown since his youth.

As the years passed, his steady laughter and sound advice became part of the fabric of his community, and when he was laid to rest in 1915 neighbors remembered a gentle caretaker of both field and friendship.
