Biography

Joseph Netherclift earned a place in London music salons as a composer of graceful songs and glees, and he was sought out for his ability to provide elegant accompaniments for the new wave of musical soirées.

He also developed improvements in music engraving that helped local publishers disseminate works with greater clarity, and his pupils remembered him as a patient teacher of harmony and taste.
