Biography
Joseph Platt Cooke (1730–1816) served his colony and country with distinction, twice taking up the mantle of command in the militia while representing his town in the legislature. His commitment to the cause of liberty was matched by an equally steady dedication to his family and neighbors.
After the wars, he returned to Old North Main Street to encourage education and piety, and the Old North Main Street Cemetery preserves the memory of a patriot who sought a peaceful republic for all.
