Biography
Joseph Ravanel, born in 1869, served as a mountain guide in Chamonix, where he spent his life helping others navigate the high peaks of the Mont Blanc massif. His knowledge and calm demeanor were vital to the many climbers who depended on him.
Ravanel’s dedication to guiding, rescue efforts, and the safety of visitors cemented his place among the storied guides of the valley, and his memory is preserved at Cimetière de Chamonix.
