Joseph Shamel

Biography

Joseph Shamel was born in 1778 and lived a full life spanning nearly eighty years until his death in 1857. He was part of the early American period and witnessed tremendous change throughout his lifetime.

Joseph was laid to rest in Gnadenhutten-Clay Union Cemetery, a final resting place that reflects the heritage and community ties that defined his life. He is remembered as part of the generations that built the foundations of our nation.
