Joshua Elston

Biography

Joshua Elston was born in 1769 and lived through the transformative period of British India's expansion. He died in 1813 at the age of forty-four and was interred in South Park Street Cemetery, Calcutta's historic burial ground.

As a member of the Anglo-Indian community during the early nineteenth century, Elston's life encompassed a significant era of colonial development. His burial in South Park Street Cemetery ensures his place in the historical memory of this important period.
