Biography
Born in 1755 in the Hudson Valley, Josiah Hasbrouck served his neighbors as a member of the New York State Assembly before bringing their concerns to the halls of the United States Congress during the early republic.
After completing his terms, he returned to New Paltz to tend the land and support civic life, leaving a legacy of quiet stewardship now remembered in the New Paltz Rural Cemetery.
