Biography
Josiah Tyler (1823-1895) devoted his life to both scholarship and ministry, drawing from rigorous study to inform heartfelt sermons and thoughtful pedagogy. As an academic he encouraged students to seek truth with humility, and as a clergyman he brought comfort and counsel to families wrestling with the griefs and joys of daily life.
His gentle leadership strengthened the congregations and lecture halls he served, leaving a lasting impression on those who met him; his earthly journey concluded near Mount Pleasant Cemetery, where he is now laid to rest.
