Jovita Idár

Biography

Jovita Idár, born in 1885, used her skills as a journalist in San Antonio to advocate for Mexican American rights and education. She reported on the needs of her people and used the press to challenge inequality.

Idár also organized and inspired women and students, and her courageous public voice set a standard for others who followed her in the fight for justice.
