Biography
Born in 1735, József Alvinczi rose through the ranks of the Habsburg military to become a respected officer whose steady leadership helped stabilize the empire during a time of great upheaval. He was known for his ability to maintain discipline among his troops and to execute strategic plans with care.
Alvinczi spent his later years reflecting on a lifetime of service and passed away in 1810; he is remembered with gratitude at the Fiume Road Graveyard where his grave marks the final chapter of a long career in defense of his homeland.
