Biography

József Barcza (1932–2004) devoted decades to church history, illuminating the development of Hungary’s Christian traditions through careful research and thoughtful reflection. His writings and lectures wove together archival detail and pastoral sensitivity, inviting clergy and lay readers alike to see their heritage anew.

He welcomed students and colleagues to explore the spiritual and cultural roots of the Reformed and Catholic communities, and his gentle counsel remained a constant in Debrecen until his passing, where he now rests in the public cemetery.
