József Szinnyei

Biography

József Szinnyei (1830–1913) was a prominent Hungarian librarian and scholar whose career advanced the development of library science and bibliographic knowledge in Hungary. His professional dedication to preserving and organizing cultural materials made him a central figure in Hungarian intellectual life.

Szinnyei's long career spanned much of the 19th century, a period of significant institutional development in Hungary. He was honored through burial at the Fiume Road Graveyard, a final resting place that reflects the esteem in which he was held by Hungarian cultural circles.
