Biography

Julia Ann Puckett, born in 1852, became a cornerstone for the Cottonwood community, raising her family and neighbors’ children amid the shifting fortunes of the late nineteenth century. She kept hearth and home open to travelers, tending gardens and providing steady counsel when storms or illness unsettled her friends.

As years passed, Julia Ann helped lead the local women’s sewing circle, fashioned quilts for new brides, and delivered food to families mourning losses, leaving behind a legacy of warmth that endures around the graves at Cottonwood Cemetery.
