Biography

Julien-Désiré Schmaltz (1771–1827) was a colonial administrator who served French interests during the Napoleonic era and the Restoration period. His career reflected the complexities of French colonial administration during a time of significant political transition and imperial ambition.

Schmaltz's administrative work took him across French colonial territories, where he managed the governance and development of overseas possessions. He was laid to rest at Montmartre Cemetery in Paris, a final resting place befitting his service to the French state.
