Biography
Julius Isserlis was a gifted pianist and teacher whose performances and recordings delighted audiences across Europe before he settled in Britain, bringing with him the rich tradition of the Russian school. He also nurtured many young musicians, passing on a deep sense of musicality and fostering the careers of his pupils and descendants.
He is commemorated at Bushey Jewish Cemetery, the resting place of a man whose artistry bridged cultures and left a lasting impression on the musical life of his adopted homeland.
