Biography

Julius Sterling Morton rose to national prominence as a statesman and conservationist, serving as secretary of agriculture and founding Arbor Day to encourage the planting and preservation of trees across the country.

He was an eloquent advocate for stewardship of the land, a passion that continues to bear fruit through conservation efforts, and he is memorialized at Wyuka Cemetery.
