Juliusz Grużewski

Biography

Juliusz Grużewski was a Polish clockmaker whose skilled craftsmanship exemplified the tradition of fine horological work that flourished in nineteenth-century Europe. Born in 1808, he practiced his trade during a period when precision timekeeping was becoming increasingly important to industrial and social life.

Grużewski's death in 1865 and burial in Montmartre Cemetery honor his contributions to his craft. His grave testifies to the presence of skilled Polish artisans in Paris, who brought their expertise and traditions to the French capital while maintaining their cultural identity.
