Biography
Junius George Groves, born in 1859 and raised under the shadow of slavery, carved a path of achievement through tireless work and stewardship of potato and grain fields that became a model of modern agriculture; his operations around Franklin gave work to neighbors and pushed new markets for Kansas produce.
Beyond his fields, he invested in churches, schools, and relief for families in need, leaving a tradition of giving that still echoes among those who tend his gravesite in Franklin Cemetery.
