Karel Frič

Biography

Karel Frič devoted himself to translation throughout his life, introducing Czech readers to literature from beyond the borders and helping to shape a regional cultural conversation in the later nineteenth century.

Known for his exacting attention to language, he left behind a body of work cherished by colleagues and is remembered at Olšany Cemetery as a guardian of literary bridges.
