Biography
Karel Kutlvašr (1895–1961) rose through the ranks of the Czechoslovak Army and was entrusted with leading Prague's defenders during the patriotic struggle in May 1945, drawing on decades of service to his country.
After the war he endured political trials yet remained a symbol of principled leadership, and his legacy is honored at Olšany Cemetery where many come to reflect on his steadfast defence of democracy.
