Biography

Karl Hintner was a pioneering photographer whose work documented the visual world of nineteenth-century Austria. His photographic practice contributed to the development of the medium during a formative period in its history, capturing scenes and subjects of his era.

Hintner's long career in photography spanned much of the nineteenth century, witnessing the evolution of photographic techniques and practices. He was interred at Salzburger Kommunalfriedhof, where he rests among other notable figures of Austrian cultural heritage.
