Kate Chase (1840-1899) was a leading social figure of her era, celebrated for her intelligence, charm, and the gracious hospitality she extended in Washington and beyond.

Despite personal hardships, she remained a devoted daughter and friend, and her memory is cherished at Spring Grove Cemetery where she is remembered for both her worldly vivacity and her tender loyalty.
