Biography

Kathleen A. McGrath was born in 1952 and rose through the ranks of the United States Navy, becoming the first woman to command a U.S. Navy warship and opening doors for women to lead at sea.

She remained a passionate mentor to sailors and an advocate for professionalism in the fleet, and upon her passing her service was commemorated with burial at Arlington National Cemetery.
