Kay Stammers emerged as one of Britain's most elegant tennis players in the 1930s, gracing Wimbledon and the Wightman Cup with her crisp volleys and stylish serve-and-volley game. Born in 1914, she reached the Wimbledon singles final and collected multiple Grand Slam doubles and mixed-doubles titles, winning admiration both at home and abroad.

After retiring from competition she remained linked to the sport, sharing her experience with younger players and maintaining the gracious sportsmanship that defined her career.
