Ki-en

Biography

Ki-en (1735–1807) was a talented painter of the Edo period whose works reflected the artistic traditions of his time. Based at Amida-ji Temple, he integrated his artistic practice with spiritual life, creating works that served both aesthetic and religious purposes.

Ki-en's paintings remain testament to the rich intersection of art and Buddhism in Edo period Japan, with his memory preserved at the temple where he practiced his craft.
