Lady Anna Maria Isabella Fermor

1828–1870 (age 42)

Biography

Lady Anna Maria Isabella Fermor was a guiding presence for the congregation at the Church of St Mary the Virgin in Rufford, where her kindness and hospitality were as steady as the pews which still bear witness to her prayers. She took particular interest in educating children of the parish and encouraging the artisans who maintained the church’s fabric.

The memorial she shares with her family graces that churchyard, inviting reflection on a woman who used her position among the gentry to nurture the lives of those around her. Her memory endures in the quiet intercessions and the blossoming parterre that now surround the grave.
