Lady Celia Crewe-Milnes

Biography

Lady Celia Crewe-Milnes, born in 1884, witnessed a century of change and used her position to support education and the arts, particularly around Brafferton where she spent much of her later life. Her hospitality and quiet counsel were valued by neighbours and charities alike.

Throughout long life she embodied a gracious sense of duty, sustaining friendships across generations and leaving behind a memory of stability and care when she died in 1985.
