Biography
Lajos Illés, born in 1942, was a composer whose music blended modern textures with Hungarian melodic traditions, and his creations were regularly featured in concerts and recordings treasured at the Fiume Road Graveyard area. He had a gift for scoring intimate vocal pieces as well as larger orchestral works.
Until his death in 2007 he guided younger composers and kept close ties with performers who appreciated his thoughtful harmonies, leaving behind a catalog that continues to inspire musicians.
