Lajos Ligeti
1902–1987 (age 85)
Biography
Lajos Ligeti combined his literary gifts with deep scholarship in oriental studies, translating classical Persian and Tibetan texts while also publishing essays that brought far-reaching narratives into Hungarian discourse. As a professor and museum curator he inspired students to explore the cultural bridges between Hungary and Asia.
When he passed away his colleagues laid him to rest at Farkasréti Cemetery, where his legacy endures both in literary halls and in the quiet reflection of a place dedicated to national memory.
