Lanier Meaders (1917–1988) of White Creek, Georgia, became a master of the Appalachian pottery tradition he inherited from his family, shaping stoneware vessels and jars with graceful attention to form and function. His work united the rugged beauty of the mountains with a craftsman's precise eye.
