Biography

László Kalmár was a pioneering computer scientist whose vision helped lay the groundwork for modern computing in Hungary and beyond. His work in logic, theoretical computer science, and the early development of programming theory established him as one of the founders of the discipline in Central Europe.

Kalmár mentored students, promoted digital innovation, and served on numerous academic committees, ensuring that Hungary remained at the forefront of emerging computational research. His contributions are honored at the Central graveyard in Szeged, where he is remembered as a thoughtful scholar and patient teacher.
