Biography

Leif Norman Barclay embraced the pioneering spirit of military aviation, turning from academic study to the fledgling Royal Flying Corps as soon as the war widened across the Channel.

He flew reconnaissance and escort missions over the Western Front, sharing the risks of his fellow airmen until a 1917 sortie cost him his life; his grave lies in Cojeul British Cemetery, a reminder of the sacrifices of early pilots.
