Lemuel Allen, born in 1839, faced the rigors of early life on the western edge of Churchill County with steady determination, tending the land and lending a hand whenever a neighbor called for help.

His warmth, plain speech, and generous assistance to young families made him a pillar of the rural community that now gathers near his grave in Churchill County Cemetery.
