Biography

Léon Gignoux was a French poet whose literary works contributed to the cultural landscape of early twentieth-century France. Born in 1891, he began his poetic career during a period of artistic innovation and literary experimentation in French letters.

Gignoux's promising poetic career was cut short by the First World War. He died in 1914, having answered his nation's call to service. He was buried at Dompierre-Becquincourt National Cemetery, where he rests among the many artists and writers who fell during the Great War.
