Leon Pescheret

1892–1971 (age 79)

Biography

Leon Pescheret brought a European sensibility to American printmaking, turning his etchings and watercolors into luminous celebrations of architecture, gardens, and regional landscapes. After training abroad, he settled in the New London area and rendered New England's light and textures with meticulous precision.

He exhibited widely and taught younger artists the discipline of tonal work, helping to sustain appreciation for fine art prints while remaining quietly generous with his craft and his time for civic cultural programs.
