Leonidas C. Houk

Biography

Leonidas C. Houk was a lawyer and Republican leader who represented East Tennessee in Congress from 1881 until his death in 1891, advocating for infrastructure improvements and fair treatment for his constituents. His tenacity helped knit together a region still healing from division and moving toward economic growth.

He rests in Old Gray Cemetery, where the memory of his political service remains with those who recall his efforts to serve the people of Tennessee.
