Biography
Léontine Rémaury lived through nearly nine decades of French history, witnessing profound changes in society, culture, and politics. Born in 1828, she experienced the transformations of the nineteenth century and the early twentieth century, maintaining her presence through periods of great historical significance.
Rémaury's long life spanned from the reign of Charles X through the Belle Époque and into the era of the First World War. She was laid to rest in Montmartre Cemetery in 1916, having witnessed nearly a century of her nation's evolution.
