Biography

Leopold Wohlschlager was a Czech executioner whose profession, though difficult and often controversial, was part of the legal system of his era. He lived through significant periods of change in Czech society and the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

Wohlschlager's life represents an important, if somber, aspect of historical justice systems. His long life spanning from 1855 to 1929 witnessed the transformation of Central Europe, and he is remembered as part of the historical record preserved at Olšany Cemetery.
