Biography

Levin Corbin Handy (1855-1932) captured the capital and its citizens through the lens of a gifted photographer, continuing the family legacy initiated by his uncle, Mathew Brady.

His portraits and cityscapes preserved an intimate record of Washington life during turn-of-the-century transformation, and he remained devoted to mentoring apprentices who sought to sustain the art of the studio.
