Biography
Lon Warneke emerged from small-town roots to become one of the premier pitchers of his era, anchoring the St. Louis Cardinals rotation with a deadly sinker that helped the club capture the 1934 World Series title.
After retiring from the major leagues he returned home to share his love of the game with young athletes and neighbors, always generous with encouragement and gratitude for the friendships forged over a lifetime; he is laid to rest at Owley Cemetery.
