Biography
Loreida Raudsep collected stories and songs with a scholar’s precision and a storyteller’s heart, ensuring that Estonia’s oral traditions remained vibrant in modern life. Her fieldwork preserved countless tales from small villages, while her writings helped integrate folklore into education and cultural programming.
She cherished the subtle ways in which everyday speech and ceremony revealed a people’s values, and she inspired colleagues to approach folklore with both reverence and curiosity. Loreida rests in Rahumäe Cemetery, remembered as a guardian of intangible heritage.
