Biography
Lorraine Hansberry broke barriers as a playwright and author, most famously with A Raisin in the Sun, bringing rich characters, moral urgency, and her own experience of segregation to the American stage while advocating for civil rights and global solidarity.
Her friends remember a courageous intellect and generous spirit, and she is laid to rest at Asbury United Methodist Church and Bethel Chapel and Cemetery, where her artistic daring continues to inspire.
